Three Generations of Excellence: Kansas City Catering and Ball Event Center Partner for Success
Kansas City Catering has been providing the highest level of service throughout the metropolitan area for over 40 years and partnered with Ball Event Center before it opened in 2004. Even before breaking ground, Ball’s owners sought the caterer’s advice, asking for insights based on their observations and experience regarding what works best in an event space in terms of layout, size, and, most importantly, “catering to caterers.”
“It must have been good advice because they took it,” says Chris Freeman, head of sales for Kansas City Catering. “They are the only event space that ever asked for our opinion, and their nice, big, wide-open space for caterers to use and do prep work works splendidly well!”
Freeman and his wife took over running the business from her father, its founder, in January 2024, and their son joined the team in the spring of that year. Now, three generations have been providing partygoers, conventioneers, social and civic organizations, and more with fresh, delicious food from an expansive menu, while Ball Event Center offers services and amenities that make it an ideal location for them to work.
Convenience, accessibility, and even relative invisibility are key to a successful event for everyone involved, Freeman declares.
“Ball is an easy place to get in and out of, and all the space behind the scenes means that customers and their guests don’t see what’s going on,” he says. “They have lots of open space for unloading and loading trucks and for food preparation, with plenty of tables and refrigeration. It’s just set up for caterers to succeed.”
Clients often ask Freeman to recommend spaces for their events, and he never hesitates to steer them to Ball first.
“First and foremost, you have to consider the size of the event and where a customer wants to hold it,” he says. “If somebody needs to feed up to 250 people in southern Johnson County, it’s a no-brainer to have it at Ball Event Center. It can be broken up into smaller spaces, as well, creating a nice, intimate atmosphere when that’s required.”
While Kansas City Catering provides its own staff, the Ball team on-site during events ensures Freeman’s team has everything needed for smooth operations.
“Working with Michael and everyone at Ball has always been easy and a pleasure,” Freeman says. “It’s a great space to work in, and I appreciate any opportunity to talk about it.”
Thank you again to Kansas City Catering– we love working with you at Ball Event Center!
